HOY SOLUBILITY PARAMETER The Hoy Solubility Parameter method is one of the best and the fastest methods to predict whether an organic material is compatible with another (or soluble in) organic material (solvent, polymer, etc…). It is based upon a group contribution method in which the contribution of each chemical group in a molecule is added to the total. It also “corrects” for structural features like: cis, trans (around double bonds), ortho-, meta-, parasubstitution (aromatics), branching (isopropyl, t-butyl, conjugation of double bonds, and rings. This powerful database lists the three components (and the total) of the Hoy Solubility parameter for over 750 solvents and polymers.

SOLVENT PROPERTIES This extensive database will enable you to determine the following properties for hundreds of solvents: molecular weight, density, flash point, normal boiling point, evaporation rate, viscosity, surface tension, molar volume, and Hansen solubility parameters.

Medical Device Biocompatibility Database (Coming Soon!) Instantly find qualified materials that are biocompatible for your medical device development projects. Easily download biocompatibility test reports that can be included as part of your design records. This global database will enable medical device manufacturers to minimize development risks, save money, and get products to market faster.

Attention Material Suppliers
If you have biocompatibility test data that you would like to be included in our global database, we welcome you to send the material data sheet along with supporting biocompatibility test data as a pdf file to us at biocompatibilitydata@engineeringreference.com. Your material will be exposed to thousands of medical device manufacturers across the globe.
